Find An In-Network Medical Provider

The #1 Rule of getting the most out of your health insurance is to use in-network doctors, hospitals, labs and other medical providers.

“In-network” means that the medical provider has a contract to provide services to you at an agreed-upon rate that is less than the full price they would otherwise charge.

“Out-of-network” simply means that they don’t have such a contract, and health insurance companies are loathe to pay out-of-network benefits because they have no cost control.

Out-of-network charges are the most common cause of so-called “surprise bills,” and trust us, you don’t want to deal with that situation because really, it was at least partly your fault that you didn’t do your homework first. We known that sounds like “tough love” but as long as we have this for-profit, complicated healthcare system, it’s really important for you to take the time to understand your insurance benefits and how to best use them.

Here are the links to the Find An In-Network Medical Provider pages of the major health insurance companies serving California.

NOTE: You must be careful to tell the website exactly which plan you have, because there are many, many different plan names and each one has its own network of medical providers. If you’re not sure which plan you have, stop and research that information before you proceed with your provider search. If you need help, feel free to contact us.
